Silicone Care & Maintenance

Silicone body jewellery can come in a varying degree of quality materials, it is always best to stick to the manufacturers care instructions when looking after your jewellery, specially silicone, and items will last many years without any problems if properly cared for.

Silicone jewellery should be washed with anti-bacterial soap & warm water prior to use, or autoclaved if it is implant grade silicone and you have access to an autoclave.

To insert silicone tunnels/plugs fold/squish it in half, and then in half again (if you can), slip into piercing and let go. It will resume it’s shape (and will try to do so while you’re trying to fold it, so the first few times may take a couple minutes to get them in) if it is still not resuming it shape then you can get a pencil or other small clean object to help encourage it to take its orginal shape. Jewellery should be cleaned on a regular basis as should your piercing, we recommend trying to do this at least once every 1 to 2 days, and also allowing your piercing to relax at the sametime for a hour or so to help improve circulation.

DO NOT chemiclave, soak in medacide or expose silicone to any other toxic chemical, some silicone may retain minute amounts of the toxin(s) used so, this should definately be avoided. Initial irritation may develop from repeated squishing by all your friends. Even those who should know better (i.e.: piercers and shop kids) will squish your jewellery all day if you let them. Other than this silicone jewellery can last a very long time, is incredibly lightweight, and can help keep bad funky smells away if you get thin tunnels as they will help your piercing to breathe along with a good cleaning regime.
